The first rail cars for the new WES
Commuter Rail line
recently arrived
at our maintenance facility in Wilsonville.
The first of four rail cars for TriMet's new WES Commuter Rail service arrived in June at our maintenance facility in Wilsonville.
The cars were shipped by freight train from the Colorado Railcar Manufacturing facility in Fort Lupton, Colorado.
WES rail car facts
- Seats: 74 (engine car); 80 (trailer)
- Mobility device spaces: 2
- Average speed: 37 mph
- Top speed: 60 mph
- Service frequency: About every 30 minutes during rush hour
- Personnel: 1 engineer and 1 conductor
Each WES car will have up to
80 seats with
spaces
for
two mobility devices.
Portland & Western Railroad will operate the WES trains, with an engineer and a conductor on board.
WES will begin serving Beaverton, Tigard, Tualatin and Wilsonville early 2009.
